Homemade Heart Doughnuts with Coconut Sugar
These fluffy homemade donuts are the perfect way to delight your loved ones. The combination of quality white flour, stone-ground, and the exotic aroma of coconut sugar give the dessert a unique character and delicate sweetness.
Ingredients:
-
250 grams white wheat flour
-
100 milliliters warm fresh milk
-
50 grams coconut sugar
-
10 grams fresh baker's yeast
-
30 grams lard
-
1 egg
-
Lard for frying
Instructions:
-
Preparing the flour: Sift the flour into a deep bowl to aerate it, and make a well in the center.
-
Mixing the liquid ingredients: Beat the egg until frothy with the lard and coconut sugar. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and add the mixture to the well in the flour.
-
Kneading and rising: Knead a soft, elastic dough. Cover it and let it rise in a warm place for about 30–40 minutes.
-
Shaping: Roll out the risen dough into a thin sheet. Use a cookie cutter to cut out small heart shapes.
-
Frying: Heat the lard in a small saucepan. When the fat is hot enough, drop the hearts in. Fry for about 30 seconds total – 15 seconds on each side.
-
Finishing: Remove the cooked donuts and place them on kitchen paper to drain excess fat.
Enjoy your meal!
